Officer Darren G. Medlin was an honorable member of the Grapevine Police Department for four years. Prior to joining the department, he served as Game Warden with the Texas Department of Parks and Wildlife for four years, and a Marine for four years prior to that, serving in Desert Storm for eight months.

Officer Medlin was devoted to his loving wife, Gina, their two beautiful daughters, Sarah and Laura, and his stepchildren, Crystal and Bobby. He graduated from Texas A&M University in Corpus Christi with a degree in Criminal Justice, and devoted his life to constantly protecting his community. Officer Medlin would spend his free time singing and playing with his children, and was a handy man around the house, repairing fences, painting, plumbing and more. He is remembered by his family for his loving spirit.

On Saturday June 12, 2004, Officer Darren G. Medlin was struck and killed by an automobile driven by an intoxicated driver. He is survived by his wife, Gina; daughters, Sarah and Laura; and stepchildren, Crystal and Bobby.
