Firefighter Rick Hosford served with the Arlington Fire Department for 22 years. Firefighter Hosford had served in the Army for five years as a signal officer and was honorably discharged as a Captain in 1982.

Firefighter Hosford spent his life working to help others. While working as a full-time firefighter, he worked part-time at Huguley Memorial Medical Center and had begun pursuing a degree in nursing. Firefighter Hosford met his wife, Diann, in 1972 and the two were married in 1975 before welcoming four beautiful children to the world. Firefighter Hosford was a dedicated member of his church and lived his life to reflect the love of Jesus Christ. Those who knew him remember his lifting spirit, and his children enjoy their memories of camping and vacationing with their father.

On Thursday, September 1, 2005, Firefighter Rick Hosford was on his way to work when a car crossed over the center lane, striking his car and killing him. He is survived by his wife, Diann; children, Tessa, Matt, Jacob and Bevin; and grandson Taylor.
